Comcast is dropping WBOY in Morgantown and Kingwood

CLARKSBURG — On Friday, WBOY-Clarksburg announced that Comcast will no longer provide their content to television viewers in Monongalia and Preston Counties.

In a press release, WBOY stated the following:

“Like you, we have been informed by Comcast that on or about March 14, 2017 Comcast plans to discontinue carriage of WBOY-TV on its system in Monongalia and Preston Counties.  Please be assured that Comcast is not removing WBOY-TV from its Monongalia and Preston County systems because of any dispute between Comcast and Nexstar regarding Comcast’s carriage of WBOY-TV.  Rather, both Monongalia and Preston Counties are outside of WBOY-TV’s home market of Clarksburg-Weston and Comcast has informed us that effective in March it will no longer carry WBOY-TV out of market.  If you disagree with Comcast’s decision, we urge you to contact them directly at 1-800-266-2278.

WBOY-TV intends to continue to serve our local viewers and communities, including both Monongalia and Preston Counties.  For our viewers in Monongalia and Preston Counties, WBOY-TV’s over-the-air signal is available for viewing with a digital antenna.  In addition, we will continue to share news reports and other information here on www.wvalways.com, on the WBOY mobile app and you can follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/wboy12news/.   We look forward to continuing to serve you.”

Again, Comcast can be reached at 1-800-266-2278 for complaints pertaining to this matter.
