Lady Bucs return with “West Virginia ‘AAA’ Runner-Up” title.

The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs return home with the “West Virginia ‘AAA’ Runner-Up” title, after their defeat to the Parkersburg Big Reds, with a final score of 47-49.

It was an overwhelmingly close game, with the score tied once in the third quarter and the lead changing 3 times. Buckhannon-Upshur managed to gain an advantage in the third quarter, with Hanna McClung making a 3 point shot, which tied the game 29-29. Lauren Bennett successfully made two layups, which gave the Lady Bucs a 33-29 advantage.

Ultimately, Parkersburg regained their lead in the 4th quarter by scoring 20 points, and Buckhannon-Upshur just scoring 14 points. The score was 47-47, with 7.5 seconds remaining. Referees then made a questionable blocking foul call on Lauren Bennett, after Parkersburg’s Shay Lee Kirby ran into Bennett. Then, Parkersburg made two successful foul shots. This led to the final game total: the Parkersburg Big Reds (49) and the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs (47).

Hanna McClung made 8 field goals and 3 rebounds. Lauren Bennett gained 7 field goals with 15 rebounds.  Alli Robinson made 1 field goal and 1 rebound. McKinley Gaudet made 1 field goal and 1 rebound. Audrey Gaudet made 3 rebounds. Ashton Maxwell made 2 rebounds.
