Boso presents bill to the State Senate that would assist with service fees.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (MetroNews) — A bill that would affect West Virginia’s volunteer firefighters is before the state Senate Government Organization.

Senator Greg Boso (R-Nicholas, 11), the lead sponsor of SB 424, said the legislation would allow local fire departments assess fees.

With it, the state would be able to increase the billing rate for firefighters and would allow local county commissions to change the way they have established fire service fees in their respective county.

“This will adjust it, at the local level, through an ordinance (that would) be able to increase or change their fire service billing fees to support the local fire departments,” Boso, a volunteer fire fighter, said on last week’s MetroNews “Talkline.”
