MORGANTOWN, WV — On Thursday, Congressman David McKinley met with West Virginia University students from Ukraine and Russia.

McKinley talked with the students in two separate meetings. Ukrainian students discussed their worries concerning their family still residing in the war-torn country. Russian students discussed their treatment in America in light of Russia’s militarized action.

“They want to be treated not as part of Putin’s government, but rather as students trying to better their lives,” McKinley stated. “I think the university has done a great job with that.”

McKinley contacted the university board officials wondering if he could speak to the students that were being affected by the conflict.

“This was very helpful to go through three sessions now of listening,” he said. “I think that’s what Americans don’t do. We don’t listen to people,” McKinley stated.

Congressman David McKinley is running for re-election against Congressman Alex Mooney in the 2022 District 1 congressional race.
