Pray the Scriptures, 2 Corinthians 3:1-4:6

Passage: 2 Corinthians 3:1-4:6

Verse: “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

I pray in Jesus’ name that ______________________ and I will be released from the need to commend ourselves to others. I pray instead that the lives of the people we have touched will be all the recommendation we need. May they be our letters of recommendation, letters written on our own hearts but known and read by everybody. May those whose lives we have touched show that they are letters written by you through us, written not on tablets of stone but on the tablets of their hearts.

Grant each of us a quiet, strong confidence in you. May we not think that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but rather may we always recognize that our sufficiency comes from you. Please make us adequate and competent as ministers of the new covenant, the covenant not of the law but of the Spirit.
