BUCKHANNON — On Saturday, Matthew Kerner (D) attacked his opponent Shelia Sines (R), stating that she should be “stoned to death” in a remark mocking the Bible. Kerner made the remark in response to a recent vulgar post by a local liberal activist, attacking one of Sines’ campaign pamphlets.
“If we are going Old Testament I know with absolute certainty that [Shelia Sines] should be stoned to death for not being a virgin when she got married (any of the times she has been married),” Kerner stated.
Sines rededicated her life to Christ in June of 2013. She became a dedicated member of Full Gospel Church, and has been a strong proponent of defending the Constitutional right to religious liberty.
Kerner and Sines are both running as candidates for Buckhannon City Council.
