Hamilton received $200 contribution from LGBT activist lawyer, Fmr. Del. Stephen Skinner (D-67).

According to Bill Hamilton’s campaign finance report, LGBT activist lawyer and Fairness WV associate Stephen Skinner donated $200 to Hamilton’s campaign. The contribution took place on January 20, 2018.

Skinner

Skinner is recognized as the first openly homosexual delegate in West Virginia, and was known for his LGBT activism while serving in the legislature. As a delegate, Skinner proposed same-sex marriage, ENDHA, and a ban on conversion efforts of LGBT youth, charging Christian counselors with child abuse.

Del. Bill Hamilton co-sponsored and voted for a bill prohibiting all counselors from providing any conversion effort of minors (struggling with homosexual impulses), which also applies to licensed pastoral counselors. Hamilton purposed H.B. 4343 on February 1, 2016. After the legislation failed passage, he proposed it again in 2017 as H.B. 2650.

This resulted in Hamilton receiving an endorsement from Fmr. Del. Skinner, and a campaign contribution of $200.
