In a joint press release, Mountaineer Journal and The Record Delta have decided to postpone the city election debate due to the coronavirus outbreak.
When we first scheduled the debate, groups under 50 people were still allowed. The advised number was then lowered to 10. While our event would have held less than 10 people at a time, as each debate was planned to be conducted separately, recent advisories provided by President Donald Trump and Governor Jim Justice have led both of our news organizations to reach the mutual decision to postpone our debate until closer to the election.
It is our sincere hope that restrictions will be lifted within a few weeks, and we will begin to see the total average of new cases lowered. Mountaineer Journal and The Record Delta will continue providing news and information relevant to the city election and the condition of our community’s health during this calamitous pandemic.
