St. Joseph’s Hospital celebrates 100th year anniversary

BUCKHANNON — On Monday, a community celebration was held at St Joseph’s Hospital to gather for the 100-year anniversary.  The celebration took place at Brushy Fork, in Buckhannon WV.

The founders of St. Joseph’s Hospital, the four Pallottine sisters, were also recognized at the anniversary event.

In 1912, a house in Buckhannon was turned into an eight-bed hospital, it was the start of what is now known as St. Joseph’s Hospital.

A Pallottine Missionary Sister, Mary Grace Barile announced, “This is a wonderful event for the community, and we’re happy that we have been able to be here and serve. Hopefully, we are coming into our second centennial and we will be here to assist the people again and serve them.”

In 2015, the ownership of the Hospital was transferred to WVU Medicine by the Pallottine Sisters.
