Bridgeport Walmart shoplifting suspects arrested, after shootout with law enforcement.

BRIDGEPORT — A shoplifting in Bridgeport turned into a shootout with law enforcement after the suspects fled the location with the stolen goods.

In Bridgeport, just before 6:00p, the suspects began shoplifting at Walmart on Emily Drive. They fled the scene in a white van, leading to a highway pursuit. A shootout broke out with law enforcement, where reports say the suspects began firing their weapons out of the window at police.

A pursuit then took place, and the suspects were followed onto I-79 from Benedum Drive.

They then began traveling northbound on I-79 in the southbound lane, driving on the opposite side of the road. In Kingmont, they crashed their van.

Near East Fairmont High School, the suspects then attempted to escape on foot, placing the school on lockdown.

Law enforcement has confirmed that all the suspects are now in police custody, with one taken with a gunshot wound to Ruby Memorial Hospital by life-flight.
