BUCKHANNON — On Monday, the remains of a deceased infant were discovered behind a building on Island Ave.
The Buckhannon City Police Department and Upshur County EMS responded to the scene, and were joined by the West Virginia State Police, Upshur County Sheriff’s Department and Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.
The infant was reportedly “found to be in an unknown stage of development.”
The body of the baby has been sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for further evaluation.
According to a statement by the Buckhannon City Police, the mother of the deceased infant has been located and the case is still under investigation.
