Last Friday, Brittany Commisso, a former assistant to the ex-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, filed a lawsuit against the former Governor. Under the Adult Survivors Act.
Commisso detailed multiple instances of sexual assault and harassment while still working as the Governor’s executive assistant in 2017.
In a statement to CBS News through her attorney, Commisso stated,
“It disgusts me that Andrew Cuomo is even considering running for public office in the wake of (New York City) Mayor Adam’s alleged sexual harassment when he himself will not accept responsibility or even acknowledge his sexual harassment of me, aside from numerous other victims, while the governor of our state.”
Andrew Cuomo resigned as governor in 2021, following numerous sexual assault accusations. With Commisso being one of the 11 women involved.
In 2021, Commisso filed a misdemeanor criminal complaint against Cuomo. Accusing him of intentionally and without legitimate purpose, placing his hand under her blouse and onto her intimate body part.
Specifically her left breast, for the purpose only serving as degrading and satisfying his own sexual desires.
Gov. Cuomo denied that he had any sexual involvement with Commisso, as well as the accusations brought forward by other women.
The former Governor blamed the justice department for over-exaggerating the report. Describing it as cancel culture on steroids at the highest level.
“Eleven cases trigger the cancel culture. Everyone has to be first before they get accused by a women’s group of not moving fast enough,”
“The President of the United States within hours says you have to resign, but I didn’t read the report but it doesn’t matter, you have to resign. And then now it’s dominoes among the Democrats.”
Cuomo commented on the unfolding events.
As of this moment, the outcome of the completed lawsuit remains uncertain, but indications suggest the suit may be leaning in favor of Commisso.
