“The attack by Iran on Israel further intensifies the urgency for Johnson,” but also presents an opportunity to underscore the critical need for funding approval. Speaking on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Johnson emphasized the importance of standing by Israel and pledged efforts to advance the aid package during the upcoming week.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer echoed the urgency, noting President Joe Biden’s engagement with congressional leaders from both parties.
Schumer emphasized a consensus among leaders on the necessity of aiding Israel and Ukraine, expressing hope for a swift resolution.
“It’s vital for the future of Ukraine, for Israel and the West,” Schumer said.

Although some progressive Democrats have voiced reservations regarding aid to Israel, citing concerns over its Gaza operations, most House Democrats have rallied behind the Senate’s proposed package. Additionally, indications suggest that many Democrats would support Johnson in maintaining his speakership if he proceeds with the Senate bill.
