BERKELEY SPRINGS — Gov. Patrick Morrisey signed three bills Friday aimed at reinforcing Second Amendment protections in West Virginia.
The legislation was signed during a ceremony at Cacapon Resort State Park, where Morrisey was joined by state lawmakers and local supporters.
“As governor, I will always support and defend West Virginians’ God-given constitutional rights,” Morrisey said. “The bills I signed today further enshrine West Virginia’s strong support for the Second Amendment. Thank you to the legislature for working with me to get this done.”
The newly signed measures include:
-
House Bill 2067, which shields firearm manufacturers and dealers from being held liable for crimes committed with their products.
-
House Bill 3342, which bars banks that contract with the state from discriminating against firearm-related businesses or trade associations.
-
Senate Bill 270, which prevents the suspension of gun rights during emergencies or disaster declarations.
The Republican governor has made gun rights a focal point of his administration and a cornerstone of his policy agenda.
