Cam Brown, of West Virginia and a longtime resident of Tennessee, went to his heavenly home on May 2, 2025. A proud native of the Mountain State, Cam spent his retirement years in the hills of East Tennessee. He was a hardworking and devoted truck driver for many years, whose travels took him far and wide—including memorable journeys to Bolivia, Newfoundland, and New York in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
Cam was known for his deep love of the outdoors. He found joy at the hunting camp in Selbyville, WV alongside those he cherished most. Cam had a great love for tinkering with projects, always finding satisfaction in working with his hands. He was a man of grit, humor, and heart — never one to shy away from hard work and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Cam was preceded in death by his parents, Fleming and Nela Corley Brown, siblings Gwen Brown Fragmin, Delmas “Steve” Brown, Linda Brown Walker, and Thomas Paul Brown, infant son, Brian Keith Brown, and grandson, David Camden Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta, who faithfully cared for him through his final days, his beloved daughters Judy Butler (and husband John), Peggy Brown, Nicole Ball (and husband Danny), and Kim Sheets (and husband Nick), and brother Larry Brown. He also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be remembered by many who will carry on his legacy of strength and resilience.
Cam will be laid to rest in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia — a place that shaped him and always held his heart. A service to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel, with receiving of friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Salem Ridge Cemetery in Gaines, Upshur County, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Salem Ridge Cemetery, in tribute to Cam’s memory and his love for the land and community that meant so much to him.
