Ronald Eugene Alfred, age 84, of Buckhannon, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He was born in Covington, VA on March 18, 1941, a son of the late Eddie Ray Alfred, Sr. and Beatrice Smith Alfred. He was united in marriage on November 20, 1960, to Angela F. Morris Alfred, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jasper R. Alfred and wife Kedron of Buckhannon; two granddaughters: Tiffany Kahari and fiancé Duval Thomas and Erika Alfred and fiancé Michael Anderson; one grandson: Caiden Alfred; three great grandchildren: Leo Anderson, Owen Anderson, and Eliana Thomas arriving in May; one brother Carl “Wendell” Alfred.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Eddie Ray Alfred, Jr., Jerry Wayne Alfred, Ralph Garland Alfred, Sr., and Harold Thomas “Tommy” Alfred; one sister, Betty Jo Alfred Wright
Mr. Alfred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed watching wrestling, NASCAR, WVU football and he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, warm smile, jokes and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He worked as a merchandiser for various bread, snack food and beverage companies.
