Glenn J. Yerkey, age 93, of Buckhannon, the Brushy Fork community, died Friday, January 9, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 14, 1932, at Glen White, WV, a son of the late Fred R. and Hallie Mae Shartiger Yerkey. On October 16, 1953, he was united in marriage to P. Walkeria Frame Yerkey who preceded him in death on February 8, 2002. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one daughter Sandra Mae Shanaberger; and siblings: Delores Siers, Barbara Krisa, twin brother Charles Yerkey, and John Yerkey. He is survived by one daughter Lisa Yerkey and friend Stanley Cogar; granddaughter Megan and husband James Colisino; great grandchildren: Leo and Ivy Colisino; and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn was a Korean War veteran of the US Army and retired after a long career as a Master Mechanic with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. He was a talented singer and was well known for his “train whistle”. He loved camping, fishing, and antique vehicles—especially his Volkswagen truck.
The body will be cremated. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at the K of P Cemetery in Elizabeth, WV and will be announced at a later date.
