James Harland Lockhart, IV, “Fuzzy the Clown,” age 74, of Meade Street, Buckhannon, died Monday, February 16, 2026, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon. He was born on May 3, 1951, in Miami, FL, to the late James Harland Lockhart, III and Marjorie Carol Jackson Lockhart. On July 11, 1981, he was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Cobb Lockhart, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one son James Harland “Jamie” Lockhart, V, of Pittsburgh; two sisters: Linda Chervenka of Fountain Hills, AZ and Bonnie Patterson of Entriken, PA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister Rebecca Bowers.
Jim was a graduate of Point Park College in Pittsburgh with a Master’s degree in Education. He went on to spend over 30 years teaching, mostly Kindergarten and Preschool. In the late-1990s, he was honored with USA Today’s “Teacher of the Year” award. His love for children extended beyond the classroom as he brought countless smiles to both young and old with his “Fuzzy the Clown” persona. His joyful nature and caring heart will be fondly remembered and missed by many.
The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
