In Loving Memory of Thomas Mason Bunner
Thomas Mason “Tom” Bunner, age 80, of Selbyville, West Virginia, passed away on September 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 29, 1945, in Upshur County, Tom was the son of Wilbur and Genevieve Bunner. Throughout his life, Tom was known for his kindness, strong faith in God, wonderful sense of humor, devotion to his family, generosity, and strong work ethic.
Tom spent many years operating his own business as a general contractor and master electrician. He also proudly served in the military, was involved in his community and church, and was a former firefighter. Tom believed in working hard, helping others, and being there for the people he loved.
Outside of work, Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and music, but some of his most treasured times were simply those spent with his family. He also had a special place in his heart for animals and leaves behind beloved pets who were an important part of his life.
Above all, Tom loved his family. Some of his greatest joys came from the moments he shared with his children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. His life touched many people, and he leaves behind countless memories that will continue to be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Helen Bunner; his son, Tom Mason Bunner Jr. and his wife, Leslie Bunner; his daughter, Skyla Kelly Liane Spencer; his grandchildren, Zachary Bunner, Joseph Bunner, and Revaya Bunner; and his siblings, Vera Gregory, Marilyn Carpenter and spouse Delmas Depoy, Fred Bunner, and Ginny Bunner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Genevieve Bunner; his siblings, Stephen Bunner and Faye Bunner; and his brothers-in-law: John Hutchinson, Jerald Waugaman, Joe Whiting, Roscoe Gregory, Steve Carpenter, and Nick Taylor.
To everyone who supported Tom during his battle and continues to support our family as we grieve, thank you. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Family and friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 3-5PM, at which time a celebration of life will be held, and the Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Following the services the family has honored his wishes for cremation.
