CHARLESTON, WV — In an exclusive interview with Mountaineer Journal, a republican female delegate in the West Virginia legislature has accused Del. Mike Caputo (D-50) of shoving her in an incident that occurred on the house floor last week. Del. Sharon Lewis Malcolm (R-39) stated that Caputo took his elbow and shoved her shoulder, in addition to “cussing out” the doorman after injuring him.
“He didn’t kick in a door. He barreled up to it. [The notion that] he didn’t see anyone that was there is a lie, because the young man was standing there, in between the windows. He came up there prepared and bellied up.”
“I was standing left to the doors,” Malcolm continued, “Caputo came through, raised both arms, and rammed into the door yelling, ‘Open the G-D (God D*mn) door.’“
Malcolm also expressed that Caputo was “lying,” stating that there was not an exchange with the doorkeeper, prior to his entrance.
“The doorkeeper had his back to him, and knew nothing was coming. He didn’t speak to him.”
“Caputo came through the door. He also cussed out the young man, after hurting him,” Malcolm proceeded, “The pledge was still going on. So, we walked past. Caputo had gone in front of us, of course, and I said to the young man, ‘Report this.’ And Caputo comes back and cusses him out some more.”
Then, Del. Malcolm described her encounter with Del. Mike Caputo.
“So, I go on, and I’m standing in the little foyer area. Caputo comes up behind me. I just looked over my shoulder a little bit, and said to him very quietly, ‘You shouldn’t have treated that boy that way.'”
Caputo then said,”‘You don’t know what you’re talking about, etc.'”
“I said, ‘Yeah, he was only doing his job.'”
Then, Caputo said again, “‘You don’t know what you’re talking about, etc.'”
“I said, ‘Yeah, he was the doorkeeper.'”
Malcolm then described Caputo’s aggressive, physical behavior.
“He takes a couple steps, takes his elbow at my shoulder, pushes it in.” Then, Caputo said, “Get the f**k out of my way.”
Malcolm continued, expressing her observation of the incident.
“He’s a belligerent man. He can push around little boys and hit them in the back. Attack them from the back, and push women around.”
“That’s exactly what happened.”
Del. Malcolm represents the 39th district of Kanawha County.
