BUCKHANNON — On February 6, 2016, Councilman Ron Pugh suggested that the city should create a fine for driving in the city limits during a State of Emergency.

“Can you, in that State of Emergency, regulate whether or not there is traffic on the street, and impose fines upon people driving, if you’re in a state of emergency?” Pugh asked Mayor Rick Edwards.

“You can develop an ordinance for such through the police code. I will say that there was a $600 fine in Washington D.C., if you were out driving during the snow storm,” Edwards exclaimed. “I don’t know if that’s really…”

“They have that in Ohio and it works really well,” Pugh stated.

Ron Pugh is presently seeking re-election for the city council’s four year term.
