On April 2, Mountaineer Journal and The Record Delta will premiere the second city election debate on Facebook, beginning at 6p.
Qualifying candidates for mayor, city recorder, and city council have been invited to participate. The initial debate will take place on March 31, 2020, and will not have a live audience (in accordance with the White House’s request to limit social gatherings to no more than 10 people).
The event will be sponsored by The Bicentennial Inn and the 88 Restaurant and Lounge.
We hope that this debate will allow all the candidates to directly convey their messages to the voters, especially during the coronavirus outbreak as most local residents are isolated in their homes.
The debate will stream 40 days before the May election, giving voters the opportunity to decide which candidates to select on May 12th. The debate will air exclusively on the Mountaineer Journal and The Record Delta Facebook pages.
