Justice issues executive order closing all gyms, fitness centers, and health clubs over coronavirus.

CHARLESTON — On Wednesday, Gov. Jim Justice signed an executive order closing all gyms, health clubs, fitness centers, and similar recreational businesses to combat the coronavirus pandemic. This includes locations where the general public tends to gather for recreation, sport, or similar leisure activities.

“The Second Executive Order from the Governor of WV issued today ordering that at midnite tonight, all fitness centers, gymnasiums, recreation centers, and similar businesses or entities where the public tends to congregate for recreation, sport, or similar leisure activities ‘shall not allow occupancy by the general public,'” Del. Robbie Martin (R-45) expressed in a statement.

Current closures also include restaurant dining areas, though drive-thrus are still accessible. According to the West Virginia Governor’s Office, this closure is currently expected to last for at least two weeks, unless conditions fail to improve.
