BUCKHANNON — Former Buckhannon Mayor and City Councilman David McCauley has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography.
McCauley, 66, admitted in December to one count of production of child pornography. According to court documents, he enticed a 17-year-old boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating photos and videos.
Federal investigators uncovered the material during a September 2022 search of McCauley’s residence. A forensic analysis of multiple electronic devices revealed illegal images and videos that led to his indictment in October 2024.
In addition to the prison term, McCauley will serve 10 years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence. He has remained in federal custody since his indictment.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
