BUCKHANNON — A white Ford F-250 crashed off an embankment early Sunday morning on Island Avenue, across from Zickefoose Mobile Home Park, according to emergency officials.
The wreck occurred at about 1:17 a.m., when the vehicle reportedly rolled over. Authorities said the driver, whose name has not been released, appeared to be moving around at the scene and was later taken to the Buckhannon Police Department and to be administered a blood test. A firearm was recovered from the individual, police told dispatch.
Records indicated the vehicle was expired, and the driver had two prior DUI convictions — one on June 16, 2024, and another on July 3, 2025.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a flash at the time of the crash. The collision caused damage to nearby electrical infrastructure, pulling a power line drop from the top of one home and leaving it without power. The affected utility pole was identified as No. 9203. The power company was notified and is responding to the scene.
The Buckhannon Police Department and Buckhannon Fire Department responded to the incident. Magistrate Alan Suder was the magistrate on call.
The crash remains under investigation.
