James Homer Kelley, Jr., age 82, of French Creek, WV, died Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home. He was born on June 16, 1943, in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late James Homer Kelley, Sr. and Geraldine Malcomb Kelley. On September 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Sheila Mae Lane Kelley, who preceded him in death on November 20, 2021. He is survived by two daughters: Teresa and husband Lenny Lipson of Grovetown, GA and Felecia and husband Norbert Souza of Woodstock, VA; four grandchildren: Amanda and husband Cody, LaTisha, Jessica and husband Sam, and Shelby and fiancée Brandi; four great grandchildren: Raleigh, Caleb, Jax, and Gabriel; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kelley graduated Buckhannon-Upshur High School before entering the US Army, where he enjoyed a long career, retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major. He was an avid bowler at the Buckhannon bowling alley.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Rock Cave Cemetery with Pastor David Jessie officiating. The U.S. Army and the Upshur County Honor Guard will accord military honors.
