In a campaign ad released on Tuesday, WV Democratic candidate for governor Jim Justice claimed that he did not donate any money to President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
“I’m a coal man,” Justice said. “I have never given money to Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama.”
While Justice did not directly contribute to the Obama campaign, he donated substantial funds to the Democratic National Committee during the presidential election season. This means that his funds would have been attributed to funding commercials and propaganda promoting Obama’s re-election.
According to The Charleston Gazzette, Justice donated over $120,000 to the DNC in 2011. Rather than owning up to his donation history, the billionaire democratic candidate instead attempted to deceive West Virginians into believing that none of his money was used for pro-Obama causes.
If Justice did not support Obama’s re-election in 2012, he would not have contributed to the national Democratic Party, but rather to our state’s WVDEMS.
