BUCKHANNON — A Governor’s Inn was once the home of the second governor of West Virginia. Gov. Daniel D. T. Farnsworth built the house, following his gubernatorial tenure, and resided there until his passing in 1892.
In 2015, the house was acquired by Jack and Charla Reger, who have continued its legacy as a local inn. Previously, the Farnsworth home was owned and operated by businesswoman and former councilwoman Jerry Henderson. Today, it continues to serve as an opulent historical attraction in the Buckhannon community.
As part of A Governor’s Inn annual tradition, the historic home has been decorated, presenting a beautiful Christmas display. A White House Christmas tree, featuring ornaments of America’s presidential administrations since the 1980s, can be observed in the front of the Inn. A Christmas village is also displayed, depicting a small snow-covered town immersed in the spirit of Christmas. Additionally, Christmas trees are also located throughout the home, decorated in elegant floral decor, ribbons, garland, and ornaments.
