BUCKHANNON — On Sunday, City Councilman Robbie Skinner announced that he is running for Mayor of Buckhannon in 2020.
“As some of you know, I’ve been contemplating running for Mayor for a while now,” Skinner expressed in a statement. “I’ve given the decision a great deal of prayerful thought and consideration, and although I am ready for the challenge, please know this is not about me, but about serving and honoring our community. Buckhannon is home in every sense of the word. I was born, raised, and educated here, and I live, work, and play here still to this day.
I will promise you the same things I promised when I ran for City Council 4 years ago: every decision will be well-thought out, and doing what’s best for our entire community, even if it conflicts with my personal views, will always prevail. I want for our community what we all want: to see it be the very best, cleanest, safest, strongest city it can be, and together, we can and will achieve our goals.
Buckhannon is a family, and shoulder-to-shoulder we will celebrate successes, learn from mistakes, solve complex problems, and plan for our future, while showing patronage to our culture and history. I view serving as Mayor of this community as truly a labor of love, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, I love Buckhannon with all of my heart.”
Skinner was elected to Buckhannon City Council in 2016. He has also worked as a local insurance agent with Mountain Lakes Insurance Agency.
