26.07 percent of all Buckhannon city voters have voted by mail.

BUCKHANNON — In a ballot submission summary provided to Mountaineer Journal by the Upshur County Clerk’s Office, 922 Buckhannon city voters have requested absentee ballots with 740 returning the ballots by mail.

Approximately 41.64 percent of registered Democrats, 31.84 percent of registered Republicans, and 25.8 percent of registered Unaffiliated voters requested absentee ballots.

This brings the total of registered voters who returned the ballots by mail to 26.07 percent, with 32.48 percent requesting absentee ballots.

This places the city of Buckhannon 10.45 percent above the state average (22.03 percent) in ballot requests, and 10.36 percent above the state average (15.71 percent) in returned ballots.

It also places the city of Buckhannon 1.08 percent above the county average (31.4 percent) in ballot requests, and 4.57 percent above the county average (21.5 percent) in returned ballots.

According to the West Virginia Secretary of State, out of all 55 counties, Upshur County had the highest percentage of registered voters that requested and submitted absentee ballots.
