BUCKHANNON — In a Mountaineer Journal exclusive exit poll, we found Robbie Skinner currently leads Mayor David McCauley by 32.2 points in the Buckhannon Mayoral Election.
Of voters interviewed, 64.5 percent of respondents said that they cast their vote for Skinner, with only 32.3 percent selecting that they cast their vote for McCauley.
The exit poll was conducted between 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
It is also important to notice, the City of Buckhannon had a significant number of absentee ballots, with 26.07 percent of ballots returned out of the 32.48 percent requested. While this exit poll focuses entirely on Election Day voters, omitting other ballot submission factors, it certainly shows Skinner leading McCauley by a significant amount among in-person voters. The only question is if this substantial lead will be consistent with absentee ballot voters and early voters.
