Democrat state senator spells his own name incorrectly on misleading ad targeting opponent.

SUTTON — On October 5th, Sen. Doug Facemire (D-12) spelled his own name incorrectly on a social media advertisement targeting his opponent Patrick Martin (R).

On an attempted side-by-side comparison, Facemire spelled his name “Facmire.”

The misleading social media post accused Martin of voting against “protective equipment for first responders,” though this funding was included in a prior budget Martin voted in favor of. Martin voted in support of S.B. 150 (Roll Call 507), which increased funding to the West Virginia State Police.

Additionally, Facemire voted against funding the West Virginia State Police on at least 4 occasions: S.B. 1013 (2017), H.B. 2018 (2017), S.B. 1013 (2016), and H.B. 101 (2015).

Facemire deleted the post approximately 5 hours later, once social media users began commenting, pointing out the misspelling.
